24 Hour Comic

This past weekend I participated in the 24 Hour Comic Book Day challenge. The goal is to simply create a 24 page comic book in 24 hours. I finished 12 pages before I thought I was going to either pass out or stab myself with my pigment liners. Keep in mind that the event took place in a comic shop, so a lot of time was eaten up by browsing. The comic I did finish is an homage to the brilliant Fleischer brothers and makes about as much sense as their cartoons. I gave myself 2 restraints just to make it even harder (a bad idea); I didn't plan out ANYTHING until I started drawing it, and I didn't use any dialogue. Against my better judgement, here are the results:
That $2 is a joke. It's worth is immeasurable.

My favorite page. It actually ended up on the local news (no joke).

Only God knows what the next 12 pages will hold, but rest assured if they ever get drawed, they won't make any sense either.

All laughs over here, David. How many hours did you clock? This is great I think I might like the last panel the best...especially because the remains have a little hat.

I need to do this one year. You must have some amazing local news if they covered 24-hour comic day!

Hey Bob, thanks man! I actually stayed the entire 24 hours, my friend was able to do all 24 pages of his comic but I simply ran out of steam. I may have worked a total of 13-14 hours, the rest of the time was taken up by chatting with friends, reading comics, and buying Ghostbusters toys, it was rather hard staying on task but a ton of fun. You should definitely try it next year, you would destroy!

Thanks a bunch Chris! I think only guys like you and Bob appreciate the weird humor and vintage animation throwback, thanks for the kind words!

It made perfect sense to me David!

Actually, it was freakin' weird and twisted...and that's exactly what I would have expected from you, and I love it. The page where the hammer crunches down on that poor bastards head is my favorite.

Awesome stuff. Well done sir. This post was a real treat.

Thanks Bino, you're too cool!

Hey Jason, thanks a bunch man! The panel you speak of was drawn pretty late in the game when I was halucinating, so I'm glad something enjoyable emerged! You should do the challenge one year, I can only imagine what warped results you would have!

It's always something that has appealed to me, so perhaps one day I'll find the time.

By the way, I love the main character, he cracks me up.
