new stuff

I got bored drawing in pencil so I tried sketching with a ball point pen and really enjoyed it. I think these pages have an antique woodcut or etched look to them. Makes me want to experiment with printmaking again.
Trying to get better with cross-hatching, getting slightly less frustrating.
Just for fun here's my Munny I painted a month or so back. It looks really at home on my toy shelf.
In case anyone is interested, here's the link to my appearance on Fanboy TV:
Look for my name (David DeGrand) under previous episodes and you'll see my interview. If you watch the rest of the segments you'll see me occasionally working on a drawing that they will give away in a future show, you can see the finished piece in the Artist Results section. I'm in the Sub or Flub section as well giving my opinion on various topics. If it's not up on the main page still check out Episode 15 on May 21, 2007 in the archive here:
Thanks guys!

I am in love with your characters!!! As always, your assortment of freaks are the kind of people I'd like to hang out with. I can't pick a favorite, but man that guy in the lower right corner on the second page looks FREAKED out! It's cool to see all these still have the nice, modeled, looseness that your pencil drawings have.

Awesome Munny by the way...especially the nips! HA

Thanks a lot buddy! I'm really liking drawing with the pen now, I'll probably have a lot more pages done with that for a while. I have another blank Munny I want to customize but have had artist's block for weeks now, just can't decide what to do with him. Oh well, it will come to me. Got your stickers in the mail (finally!) along with a few other goodies for ya!

Cool man, glad you got them, it was my pleasure! Don't feel obligated to sent me anything back (although a Justin original would be AMAZING, I definately wouldn't refuse!) Thanks for all the nice comments and blog-talk, it's been awesome getting to know you and your art!
