new year, new doodles

Hope every had a great Christmas and New Year's! The wife and I rang in 2008 by going to see the awesome Sweeney Todd (Tim Burton's best movie since Ed Wood), and then went to sleep watching the ball drop. Yeah, we live it up. Anyway, I got some more pages scanned in, my job lately has been beyond crazy but I got to get a little drawing in at last.
Man, sometimes my artwork is too bizarre even for me. I frankly have no idea what to say about these pages. I've been so mentally fried lately that I think I'll just let the drawings speak for themselves this time.
I had fun with the page on the left, I just tried to draw as many weird facial expressions as I could come up with. I'll probably do some more of these sometime. The heads on the right page are designs for some T-shirts and buttons I'd like to have done someday.
I was watching a really weird Betty Boop cartoon that had these hillbilly characters with these strange saggy cheeks, so naturally I had to see if I could draw one. He's the one on the left page saying "Hoo Doggies!"
More random characters from the deepest regions of my subconscience. Scary ain't it?

Hey, starting out with good stuff for 2008! I like the bold black lines you're using on some of your characters, of course, I'm biased towards that since I use 'em too. It makes drawings nice and graphic! I'm diggin' that little guy in the upper right corner of the second spread, and that big, stubbly baby man face in the bottom right corner of the last spread cracks me up!!! Oh, and that "rainy day" page on the second to last spread is BRILLIANT. There's a painting for ya!

...I could keep going...the crowd of facial expressions is exquisite too.

Thank you kind sir! I've really been interested lately in creating more graphic designs, my eventual goal is to turn them all into DeGrandLand merchandise of some sort. Then I can quite my job and just design cool stuff all day long!! Maybe someday. Thanks again man for the comments, can't wait to see more if your stuff!

You should totally do that. It would be really great to have your days free to construct your dream of DeGrandLand! I could see your merchandise being very successful if you hit the right niche market.

...and yes, I know, I need to whip myself into submission to create more comics. I'm trying...I just have to finish my new website first. :)

I hope to have an actual DeGrandLand theme park one day, like Disneyland but more disturbing (if that's really possible). I'm going to get busy with making some stuff to sell through degrandland.com, I'll give you a great deal if you want to buy some stuff!

Good luck on the new site, can't wait to see how it turns out and of course can't wait to see more comics from you. Thanks once again for the nice words.
