Made it back from New Mexico and will post pictures from the workshop whenever I get them scanned. These are 5 out of 6 paintings I've done for a show in Dallas on June 6 called "Six by Six". From what I understand, six curaters are bringing in six artists each, the paintings are 6" x 6" and will sell for $66 each. I tried to have my six pieces work together as a whole when displayed but at the same time being individual pieces in themselves. I will get the last painting up just as soon as it's finished.

I'm gonna learn sumthin'!!!

This week my wife and I are going to Silver City, New Mexico to attend an animation workshop at the Ralph Bakshi School for Animation and Cartooning. I can't wait and I will post some artwork and any cool pictures I take when I get back. In the meantime, here's a small painting I did that I came across and began to wonder what the hell I was thinking about.

This is a painting I did a few years ago while going through a phase of doing really juvenile and repulsive artwork. Can you believe someone paid me money for this painting???? I really do enjoy painting stuff like this just for fun, I'll probably go back to the gross stuff pretty soon.

New Paintings

Here are three small paintings I did just to test color and composition for some larger pieces I need to complete. The ghost painting is the one that I drew the Blue Ghost drawing for, as you can see it's changed quite a bit.

Blue Ghosts

Here is a drawing I drew with blue ink and wash. I did it as a study for a painting that I am working on for an art show. The finished painting is going to be pretty different than this image, I decided to change up the composition quite a bit and add other colors. In the next few days I will post a real small acrylic painting I did that is more along the lines of what the finished painting will look like.

The Horrible Edmond Flyshaker

Here are some strips from a cartoon strip I am currently working on. These are basically an excuse for me to get out all of my disgusting and perverted humor. I can't help it, I'm a sucker for all things in bad taste!

Here are two paintings I did that I originally had planned for a series of weird monsters eating stuff, but I lost interest and stopped after doing these two and another one which I'll post sometime later.

Dan the Drooler

Here's another watercolor that I did to go along with the Messy Eater image below. I really don't know what I was thinking when I chose the colors, but they just look really weird to me now.

The Messy Eater

I can't believe I haven't posted anything since December, the ferret and grasshopper that look at this blog must be pretty bored by now. Anyway, here's a stupid watercolor I did quite a while back while trying to do my best to imitate Mad magazine.

Cotton Candy Catastrophe

This is a weird little circus inspired painting I did just for fun.

Sad Giant

A pen and ink drawing colored in Photoshop. This was mainly an experiment in color, I'm still not sure if I'm all that happy with it or not.

Paintings

Here are some paintings I did as part of a series called "Ghost Portraits" I'm currently working on. I hope to eventually complete about 20-30 of these things, the idea being to see if I can come up with that many different characters based on this one simple idea. I plan to paint them all in black and white with a little grey in order to capture the vintage look of old cartoons, kinda the same idea as the wash drawings below.

Black and White Drawings

Here are a few drawings I made inspired by vintage cartoons and old horror movies.

Two Monsters

This masterpiece evolved from the idea of two monster friends whose whole relationship is based on the fact that the green one loves cotton candy (which is what the pink one is covered with). This is very convenient for the cotton candy covered monster, since he is very lazy and doesn't like to take the time or energy to remove his candy coating himself (although he gets very hot). I may one day make a comic book out of these two, I can see many possibilities based on this simple idea.

Helmeted Glob Creature

I came up with this little fella based on the idea of a shy, timid, and soft creature that doesn't want to hurt anybody, but does want people to get out of his way. Contrasting images and objects appear a lot in my work, and this is just one example.

These are some fake ads for some fake products I came up with as an exercise in Adobe Illustrator (I've been slowly teaching myself the program). I've always enjoyed the boldness of 50's design, and I tried to capture that look somewhat in these images.

This was scanned from a sketchbook page and gone over in Adobe Illustrator. I have several images like this I will post in the future.
